What started as a simple desire to explore something outside of what is, what isn’t, and what could be quickly turned into a reading experience I couldn’t put down. The anticipation alone kept me turning pages, constantly wondering what would unfold next.

Maggie herself? A mix of naive, curious, and adventurous.

Although she’s written as a woman in her 30’s, she gave strong “young adult finding herself” energy, and honestly, it worked. Her journey felt rooted in identity and discovery. She wasn’t just searching for answers… she was searching for herself. And the deeper she dug into her family’s past, the more I found myself rooting for her—especially as she pushed past outside voices (yes, Coach… I’m looking at you 👀) to uncover the truth about her heritage.

And I appreciated that truth wasn’t painted as something dark or shameful, but layered, complex, and worth understanding.

Now let’s talk about the world-building.

The Underground. The Doors. The hidden layers beneath what we think we know.

It all felt surprisingly easy to grasp, especially if you’re someone who already enjoys fantasy or supernatural elements, or even watched TV at all.

Nothing felt overly complicated. It just clicked, And once Maggie connected with Souxie, Asha, Ayesha, The Professor, and The Coach… it all became just a tad bit more clear.

This story is bigger than just Maggie.

The overall vibe?
Think college coming-of-age energy mixed with something deeper and supernatural. Exploration, identity, friendships, and just enough mystery to keep you locked in. It honestly gave:

✨ Sabrina the Teenage Witch meets The Twilight Saga with a touch of classic “away-from-home” college films.

And then… that ending.

Because let’s be real:

Did The Professor kill Hillary?!

That’s it. That’s the question. That’s the cliffhanger. 😩

This book left me right there—needing answers, side-eyeing characters, and immediately ready to pick up The First Family because I refuse to sit in this confusion for too long.
