Dear Readers,
Finishing Bleu left me staring at the last page thinking… that’s it?
Not because the book was bad. Honestly, quite the opposite. I think what frustrated me most was realizing how much potential the story had to become something even bigger than what it already was.
The relationship between Bleu and Truly was beautiful in its own way. It was passionate, fast-paced, straight to the point, and definitely spicy 🌶️. Their chemistry carried the story effortlessly, and if you love romance that doesn’t waste time getting to the connection, this book absolutely delivers that.
But while reading, I couldn’t shake the feeling that there were deeper storylines hiding underneath the surface that deserved more attention.
There were moments and characters introduced that felt like they were leading somewhere emotionally heavier and more layered, only for the story to quickly move past them in order to reach the happy ending. And while I love a happy ending as much as the next person, this one felt rushed considering how much more could have been explored.
For example, the child abuse allegations involving Aubry’s wife could have added so much emotional depth and complexity to the story. Dreu and Jatvia’s relationship also felt like it had a story of its own waiting to unfold. Even Callisi, the jealous older sister, felt like a character who could have brought another layer of tension and realism into the book if her storyline had been developed further.
It wasn’t disappointment exactly… more so the feeling that there was an even richer, more in-depth novel inside the pages that we only got glimpses of.
Still, I enjoyed the book. It was entertaining, emotional, romantic, and easy to get through quickly. And maybe that’s why I was left wanting more. Because somewhere inside of Bleu is a story that could completely consume its readers if given the space to fully unfold.
The overall message was beautiful.
