Re: The Mortal Affairs – Granger

Dear Readers,

I am officially locked into whatever is happening at Drew Collins University.

Going into The Mortal Affairs, I honestly thought this would just continue following the students at Drew Collins. Instead, Granger shifted perspectives completely and focused on The Mortal Affairs Department within the Office of Magical Research & Affairs, and somehow it made the entire story even more interesting.

Because now we are not just watching the chaos unfold from the outside. We are getting insight into what was really being covered up at Drew Collins University, why it was covered up, and just how many people played a role in keeping the truth buried. Knowing everything that already happened at Drew Collins and everything we were already learning about The First Family made this investigation feel so much deeper. Every discovery felt layered. Every reveal made me question everything all over again.

And I could not stop reading.

The story follows Himora Clark, a fae who works alone as the lead of The Mortal Affairs Department, and Trevor, who becomes her associate after being demoted from Head of GRIOT — Government Reconnaissance and Investigations of Other Worldly Threats. Their investigation unfolds through twists, secrets, and so many “AHA!” moments that kept me completely invested without giving too much away too early.

What I loved most is that the mystery never felt messy or hard to follow. The characters were easy to connect to immediately, and every new layer added to the investigation made the world feel bigger.

And listen… there is something about a vampiric romance.

The obsession. The passion. The irresistible pull toward one another. Beautiful.

I do not even want to go too deep into that part because revealing who the vampire is, or how they became one… would completely ruin part of the mystery surrounding the investigation. And honestly? Discovering those details while reading is part of what makes this story so fun.

One of my favorite dynamics in the book was Ace and Trevor’s friendship. They trusted each other, understood each other, respected how the other handled business, and stayed solid even while liking the same girl. Their friendship felt genuine in a way that made the story stronger.

I will admit, part of me still wanted more from the original Drew Collins characters — Asha, Maggie, Quan, Souxie, and Namir especially. I missed them. But I also really appreciate what this book did for the overall story. It expanded the universe instead of shrinking it, and it feels very obvious that Granger is building toward something bigger.

And honestly? I am ready.

Vampires. Faes. Werewolves. Witches. Warlocks. Moons. Secrets. The truth finally coming out.

OOOH. Give me the next book immediately.

Reading The Mortal Affairs felt like sitting in front of a movie theater screen. Every chapter played out vividly in my mind, and by the end, I was already hoping this story ties directly back into Drew Collins University in the next installment.

If you are already invested in the Drew Collins world, read this book. Immediately.

Because if you know, you know.
