White Lines II: Sunny by Tracy BrownMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
Picked up White Lines II because I really enjoyed the first book and wanted to see what would happen with Jada and Born’s love story. I was pulled in right away, especially seeing that they had rekindled their relationship that alone had me invested from the start.
This time around, Ava actually stood out to me the most. Her situation with Zion seems layered and interesting, and honestly, I felt like there was room to dig even deeper into that story. Still, the character development overall was solid. You could really see growth, especially with Born and Ava, and I appreciated that the hard conversations were finally happening, even if some came later than they should have.
Although the book seemed positioned to spotlight Sunny, if I’m being real, I stayed locked in mostly for Jada and Born. Their dynamic continues to carry a lot of emotional weight for me.
The themes that hit hardest were addiction, grief, and mental health. Sheldon’s behavior especially brought those struggles front and center. I won’t say too much there because spoilers aren’t my thing, but those elements definitely added depth to the story.
Overall, a good read and worth continuing the series if you were invested in the first book.
