⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5)

When I finished this book, my first thought was: what the hell did I just read? And I don’t mean that in a bad way.

Overall, this was a good and interesting read with solid character development and a nice twist that made everything finally click. The story kept my attention all the way through — no dragging, no filler.

That said, I didn’t really gravitate toward any of the characters. Adira was getting on my nerves, and her cheating husband? Don’t even get me started. Like… what the hell? But once the story unfolded, things made more sense, even if I still side-eyed them heavily.

Despite the title, this book really isn’t about infidelity, betrayal, or power dynamics in the way you might expect. To me, this was a mental health story — and honestly, it handled that aspect really well. That was the most compelling part of the book.

This was also my first time reading Shanora Williams. I went in with no real expectations, just curiosity. The book had been sitting on my shelf for a while, and I finally decided to crack it open — and I’m glad I did.

Definitely worth the read. It’s good, it’s interesting, and it will leave you thinking once you close the book.
