I picked up Sweet Little Hearts after hearing it was best to read Beautiful Broken Hearts first—and while I initially expected it to continue Deke and Davina’s love story, I was pleasantly surprised to dive into Octavia and Javier’s romance instead. And wow… what a beautiful shift.

I already loved Octavia as Davina’s bold, supportive little sister—the one who encouraged her to chase love in Miami—so getting a deeper look into her own story felt like a rewarding bonus. Shanora Williams masterfully navigates the complexities of an employer/employee dynamic turning into something heartfelt and real, and the emotional depth she gives both characters is just so satisfying.

Javier’s backstory was incredibly well-written, and learning about Octavia’s past—especially her experience with an abusive relationship—added so much emotional weight. And just when I thought I had the story figured out, the surprise twist involving Javier’s ex-wife truly caught me off guard. I loved that the book didn’t shy away from the aftershocks of betrayal and how they affect new love.

This story pulled at my heartstrings in all the right ways. There were definitely some OMG moments, a few tearjerkers, and plenty of heartwarming “awww” scenes that left me smiling. The pacing was spot on—absolutely a page-turner—and I couldn’t put it down.

Highly recommend to anyone who loves a layered, emotional romance with great character development and just the right touch of drama. Shanora does it again!
