Problematic Vol. 1Problematic Vol. 1 by Ladii Nesha
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I picked up Problematic (Vol. 1) because Ladii Nesha usually hooks me from page one — and she did exactly that again. I finished my previous series and went straight to this because I already knew she wasn’t about to disappoint.

One word for this book? Whew!!! Expectations definitely exceeded. I should’ve known I’d be left wanting more when I saw “Volume 1,” but I still wasn’t ready for it to end.

The characters were EVERYTHING. Shugg and Spice? Loved them down. Shane, Aria, and Al gave true friendship goals. And honestly, the way even the supporting characters shined just as much as the main ones says a lot about how well Ladii Nesha develops her cast.

Favorite relationship? I almost said Pearl and Duce just to be funny 😂 but really, the bond between Logic, Sage, Shugg, and Spice stood out most. I’m always here for strong family-type connections.

Plot-wise, nothing wildly shocking, but that didn’t matter. The pacing was steady and engaging — I genuinely didn’t want to put it down. The story leans heavily into themes of love (especially the pursuit of it), betrayal, abandonment, addiction, and emotional growth.

The writing style felt a little different for me because it pulls in very current references, today’s slang, TikTok mentions, even the Boots on the Ground dance. Not what I usually read, but it added a modern, real-world vibe that kept things lively. Plus, the dialogue had me laughing more than once.

Overall? Definitely recommend. If you like urban fiction with strong relationships, real-life struggles, humor, and characters you won’t forget, this one deserves a spot on your shelf.
